Johnny Chan Chip Trick

This is Johnny Chan's signature chip trick and was made famous by the poker movie Rounders.  The Johnny Chan chip trick is actually very simple to learn and looks pretty cool as well.  All you do is roll three chips up onto your index finger, and then let them roll back down onto the stack in reverse order.  I use 10-12 chips depending on the chip size. Use as many chips as you can hold comfortably.  Start out with 10 then add or subtract as needed.

Start out by resting the stack of poker chips lengthwise along your pinky finger.  Use  your ring finger to support them from behind. The chips should rest at a slight angle, pointed towards your palm as shown in the picture above.

Position your thumb at the base of the stack on the left side and loosen the three outer poker chips.

Using your thumb, roll the three chips up and off of your ring finger.  Roll them onto your middle finger, and then up to your index finger.

Once the three chips have reached your index finger, lift them above the stack a bit so that when released they'll roll neatly down your fingers back to the stack below.

Now release the poker chips one at a time, allowing them to roll back down your fingers to the stack.  Each chip should fall in front of the previous chip, the front chip falling first.

If you've never seen the movie Rounders, go pick up a copy.  It's hands down the best poker movie I've ever seen.  Except for one scene, most of the poker is very realistic.  Hollywood got it right with Rounders.  Johnny Chan also makes an appearance during the movie and performs this very trick.
